Mar Lorente

(Postdoctoral Researcher)

e-mail: mmlorente@pdi.ucm.es

Mar Lorente obtained her PhD at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas (CSIC) of Madrid, Mar joined our laboratory with a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowship. Nowadays Mar works as a postdoctoral researcher.

Mar focuses her job in the study of the mechanisms associated to the resitance of the tumoral cells to the treatment by cannabinoids in order to improve the therapies against brain tumors and, particularly, gliomas.

Sonia Hernández

(Postdoctoral Researcher)

e-mail: shtgpi@ucm.es

Sonia Hernández Tiedra studied Biochemistry at the University of Salamanca. She obtained her PhD from the Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa related to the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (U.A.M). During her PhD, she focused her work in the study of the molecular mechanisms implicated in the trafficking of the copper transporter ATP7B, responsible for the Wilson disease.

Sonia  joined our group in 2007, focussing her work in the study of the potential role of the sphingolipid trafficking in the antitumoral effect of THC in glioma cells.

David Dávila de León

(Postdoctoral Researcher)

e-mail: davileon@hotmail.com

David Davila received his Biology Degree in 1999 at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (UCM). After that David became part of the professor Ignacio Torres Aleman group at the Neurobiology Research Centre “Ramón y Canal” (CSIC). In this group David described how the oxidative stress interfere with the neuroprotective signaling induced by the neurotrophic factor IGF-I.

After the defense of his doctoral thesis in 2008 David joined the professor Jochen Prehn group at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, granted by an Intra-european Marie Curie Fellowship. In this period David led a scientific project which combined biochemistry techniques, in vivo confocal microscopy and computational mathematical models to identify key molecular mechanisms involved in neurodegeneration.

David joined the group of the professor Guillermo Velasco in 2012. In this group David works, among other projects, investigating the role of the neurotrophic factor Miquina (MK) and its ligand, the tyrosine kinase receptor ALK, in the regulation of the subpopulation of tumoral cells, glioma initiating cells (GICs), which has been postulated as possible origin of the gliomas.

Israel López Valeror

(Ph.D. student)

e-mail: ilvalero@hotmail.com

Israel López obtained his BSc in Biology at Complutense University in 2012 when he joined our group and now he has got a predoctoral fellowship from the Spanish Ministery of Education. His phD project is aimed at studying the role of midkine/ALK axis in gliomas in order to optimize combined therapies based on cannabinois for the treatment of these tumors.

José González

(Undergraduate student)

e-mail: gonzalez.bio.ucm@gmail.com

José González is a student of the degree in Biology at Complutense University, Madrid.

He joined our group in February 2013 as an undergraduate student.
